The Yorkshire Tripper – Tenth Anniversary Edition

It’s ten years since John first emigrated to the US and since then he’s made, I think, three return trips including this. On this occasion, early in June, John was visiting for around 10 days. Though I was working for some of his visit, I was able to give a decent amount of time to gadding about with John, to meet up with our various mutual friends.

On one of our days out together we visited York for the day, to meet our friend Kay. York is, of course, one of the UK’s most photogenic cities and so I decided that I would dip my toe, once again, into some street photography.

Street photography hasn’t really been my thing for many years. Several on-street interactions rather put me off the genre, because of broad public misunderstandings about the lawfulness of photography in public places and the consequent potential for negative reactions and interactions. To put it plainly, I’ve had some bad experiences in the past that make genres like landscape and wildlife photography much more appealing to me.

But on this occasion, I decided to give it a try and the results are in the gallery below:
