Work gets in the way sometimes…
Photographically speaking it’s been quite a quiet summer for me. I spent most of August working every day, and even worked 21 days consecutively. For a part time job, that’s a lot of hours out of my day when I would otherwise be out enjoying photography. Not complaining, though! I’m grateful for the extra coin!
It does mean, however, that this year’s photographic haul has been less than normal. In my previous blog, I once again bemoaned the loss of my 24-120mm lens, and this definitely has shaped the year to some extent, although for the last couple of years I’ve tended to lean in on wildlife photography more than landscape, so I can’t really blame the lack of equipment for the lower volume of images.
In putting this gallery of images over the summer together, I do declare that I’m not unhappy with the content I’ve produced. It’s good quality. It’s just rather limited in its scope, and features almost no landscape photography. It also features almost no macro, though, and there’s certainly no deficiency in equipment on that score. So I conclude that for the main part, it’s work that’s got in the way. Truth be known, I’ve found myself exhausted at the end of the day and despite many hours available in the evenings I’ve tended to go home from work, eat supper and head almost straight to bed. A day of work tires me out like never before. Maybe, just maybe, I’m getting old!
The leaves are turning
Now, with Autumn and Winter on the horizon, the available hours outside of those I work are going to be even more severely limited as windows of opportunity continue to narrow. I’m planning to make a concerted effort to get out on my days off and take photos. Definitely, the spirit is willing. I’m hoping to figure out a way to make the flesh less weak!
