The Restart

I’ve given it some thought, and decided to go ahead and rebuild my website with some changes in emphasis. I enjoy putting my thoughts out there, even if nobody’s listening – and as far as I know, nobody has been listening! 😉

Obviously my trust in the WordPress environment has taken a beating. It’s inexcusable for the vulnerabilities to have existed in the code for as long as they did, though I accept that the use of AI in discovering vulnerabilities presents a new challenge, nevertheless those tools are no less available to the WordPress developers who are themselves responsible for pre-emptively discovering and eliminating potential vulnerabilities. Things played out in ways they should never have, and I’m in no small part angered by the personal loss that I’ve suffered as a result. But, as I always eventually do, I’ll just get over it.

So, regarding the changes in emphasis: I’m going to move away from posting purely on photography. While it’s fair to say that photography has been a passion for all my adult life, it’s not everything that I’m about. I do other things too. Admittedly, not much, but I do. I’ve never been a font of knowledge, never claimed to be a good photographer, never been a good husband or partner and never escaped my nicotine addiction. What I have been, and intend to always be, is an open book. I am who I am. I don’t want to seek validation from others. If you like what you see, great. If you don’t, great. If there’s one over-arching realisation I’ve come to in my life it’s that I can’t change who I am to suit others, and I don’t want to. So while this site starts afresh, the only real change from before will be the breadth of potential subject matter.

Onwards.
